The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees in Reno, Nevada, is seeking a highly qualified and licensed Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position no later than July 1, 2024.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the governing board in identifying and screening the candidates.

The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for leading a large and diverse school district. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make.
The Board of Trustees seeks a superintendent who can demonstrate:
Success as a visionary problem solver and empathetic leader willing to make a genuine, long-term commitment to Washoe County School District and our communities
A tenacious leadership style that models integrity, authenticity, and conviction, while placing community above self in all aspects of the work
Being results-oriented with financial and executive experience and the ability to operationalize the district’s strategic plan
The ability to identify and leverage partnerships and outside resources to meet the needs of our students
Experience as a politically savvy leader who possesses strong communication and effective relationship-building skills with all district stakeholders
Successful classroom and school leadership experience
Additional Requirements:
Primary residence established in Washoe County.
Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field required; Doctorate in Educational Administration or related field preferred.
Five (5) or more years’ experience as an executive-level leader and/or administrative-level leader. Experience serving PreK-12 education systems desired.
Current possession, or possession within three (3) years, of a valid Nevada School Administrator License.
Ability to meet all duties and expectations as detailed in the Washoe County School District Superintendent Job Description.
Salary Range: $275,000 - $310,000 subject to negotiation
