SUPERINTENDENT, NORTHPORT-EAST NORTHPORT UFSD

Vacancy Notice

The Northport-East Northport (NY) UFSD Board of Education is seeking an educational leader with a strong and proven record of accomplishments. The Board, with input from stakeholders, has identified the following as the most desirable characteristics for the next Superintendent:

  • Proven success as a proactive leader (superintendent, central office administrator, and/or principal) 

  • Successful teaching experience

  • Successful leadership experience in a public school district

  • Superintendent experience and earned Doctorate preferred

  • Evidence of collaboratively and systematically leading improvements to teaching, learning, and student outcomes

  • Leads with a focus on what is best for students

  • Holds self and others accountable 

  • Proactive leader who is committed to continuous improvement by systematically embedding best practices in the District’s culture

  • Will align academic and operational initiatives with measurable and meaningful goals 

  • Proficient at budget development, financial management, and planning

  • Evidence of school and community visibility and involvement

  • Unquestioned integrity and moral character

  • Effective communicator

  • NYS SDA/SDL certificate required

The following have been identified as priorities for the next Superintendent:

  • Developing effective systems that lead to District-wide improvement

  • Improving academic, social-emotional opportunities and outcomes for all students

  • Maintaining an orderly and safe environment sensitive to the social and emotional well-being and growth of all students

  • Effective and up-to-date long-range strategic and financial plans for the District

The Northport-East Northport UFSD, with a current enrollment of 4533 students, is located on the beautiful north shore of Long Island in Suffolk County. The district has four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The district enjoys broad support from school leaders, teachers, support staff, parents, residents, and businesses. The “governance team” relationship is collaborative, with the Board and Superintendent supportive and respectful of each other’s roles. The District is renowned for strong student achievement, interscholastic sports, and arts programs. Recreational opportunities nearby include boating, fishing, golf, and all that New York City has to offer. 

Salary: Highly competitive depending on experience and qualifications

Anticipated Start Date: January 2, 2024

Application Process: International Deliverables, LLC is assisting the Board with the search. This is a “closed”, i.e., confidential search with only the Board and consultants knowing the names of the applicants. A list of references who can be contacted will be required as part of the candidate vetting process. The Board plans to work with the school attorney to conduct a thorough background check of the finalist. The application and disclosure form can be found here.
