Boone County Schools - Florence, Kentucky

The Board of Education of the Boone County Schools, Florence, Kentucky, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2024.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment: 20,000

Location: 13 miles southwest of Cincinnati

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board of Education seeks a Superintendent who possesses the following leadership and personal qualities.

  • A confident and creative leader, the superintendent should also be a visionary leader who will take time to learn the district and get to know the stakeholders. The superintendent will speak with purpose and will know where the district should be going and how to get there; he or she will advocate for all students and be a person of the highest integrity and character.

  • A problem solver and multitasker, the superintendent must possess the ability to handle a multitude of challenges and will successfully prioritize, delegate, and lead the whole district moving forward. The new superintendent will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the district and devise a plan to utilize those strengths and address weaknesses, while successfully fulfilling the many responsibilities of the superintendency.

  • Being an excellent and effective communicator, the superintendent will connect with the community, staff members, students and patrons. The new superintendent must be able to convey complex ideas and show a thorough and respectful understanding of various perspectives while still being an effective problem-solver. The superintendent must be inclusive of the diverse stakeholders who make up the Boone County Schools.

  • As an experienced manager, not only will the superintendent be an excellent leader, he or she must have demonstrated capabilities of recognizing and utilizing the expertise of others. Together with his or her leadership team, the superintendent will ensure resources are available when needed and will have a strong and demonstrated knowledge and experience of academic, facility, fiscal, human resources and other key departments which ensure that the district runs smoothly.

  • collaborative bridge builder, the superintendent must be active in the community and will get to know legislators and various other community leaders who have an interest in the Boone County Schools. Building and establishing relationships with all stakeholders will provide many growth opportunities for the district.

Salary: competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience
