SDoL provides a comprehensive educational program for Grades PreK-12. The district is home to 22 schools: 12 elementary schools providing full-day Pre-K and Kindergarten through Grade 5, four middle schools for Grades 6 through 8, one K-8 building, McCaskey High School Campus, which is comprised of two buildings, J.P. McCaskey and McCaskey East, Cyber Pathways Academy, a fully online K-12 program, and Full Circle Learning, an innovative hybrid program for students in Grades 1-4. District students are also served through alternative programs, including the DASH Program, Phoenix Academy, Buehrle Academy, Lancaster County Prison and Youth Intervention Center (YIC). The student population is diverse and global, including 60% Hispanic students, 17% African-American or Black, 13% Caucasian, and nearly 10% Asian or other ethnicities. Nearly one in five students is an English Language Learner and/or a student who receives Special Education services. Additionally, students speak more than 50 different native languages.

SDoL is proud to offer the IB Diploma Programme and six Career and Technical Education Programs at McCaskey High School. McCaskey Campus, the four middle schools, and our one K-8 school are candidates for the IB Middle Years Programme for Grades 6-10. The district has implemented a full one-to-one instructional technology program, meaning each student in Kindergarten through Grade 12 receives an iPad or other device for learning throughout the year.

SDoL schools are the cornerstone of a great community. Lancaster City has become known as a premier destination for its cultural, historical, and entertainment attractions and is regularly ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s “Best Places to Live.” SDoL’s curriculum benefits immensely from the city’s cultural assets. It is one of the many reasons SDoL has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the past 12 years.
