The Board of Education of the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as the District’s superintendent beginning
July 1, 2020. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who puts the needs of students first in the decision-making process and who has experience in a large, diverse urban environment. Candidates should have experience at the classroom, school, and district levels, along with strong communication skills to engage constituents in meaningful ways and to keep the organization moving forward in an aligned direction and systematic manner.

Albuquerque is a unique community with a long tradition of valuing its diversity and celebrating its heritage. The District provides for school choice and serves nearly 84,000 students in 143 schools. APS authorizes 31 charter schools with another 24 charter schools being authorized by the Public Education Commission. APS encompasses 1200 square miles of rural, urban, and suburban areas.
