Our District

Wauwatosa School District is a high achieving, forward-thinking, racially and economically diverse public school district serving over 7,000 students and their families. The educational community has a long history of excellence, having been recognized both regionally and nationally.  The district has routinely “Exceeded Expectations” on state Report Cards issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. 

The District consists of 16 schools: 11 elementary, including STEM and Montessori schools, two middle schools, two high schools and the Wauwatosa Virtual Academy. The District also directs a robust summer school, community use of new athletic facilities, and the city’s recreation programs. Additionally, the District provides the education for several county programs including Children’s Hospital, Vel Phillips Juvenile Justice Center and River Hills School which is part of the Milwaukee County Mental Health Center.

Our neighborhood schools are nestled in the charming suburb of Wauwatosa, about 15 minutes west of downtown Milwaukee and the shores of Lake Michigan. With a population of roughly 47,000 people, Wauwatosa residents enjoy the warmth and charm of a small town, with all the metropolitan amenities you could ask for just minutes from your doorstep, including; professional sporting events, college athletics, performing arts, cultural activities, and convenient and robust shopping and restaurants.
