Hopkinton School District
Incorporated in 1765, the Town of Hopkinton was once the state capital and a popular stop on the passenger rail line between Boston and Montreal.  The town is made up of three distinct entities; Hopkinton, mainly a residential area; West Hopkinton, primarily agricultural; and Contoocook Village, the town’s business hub.   Hopkinton and its business district of Contoocook Village offer small-town ambiance through a blend of well-preserved history and natural beauty.  In addition to working farms and the oldest covered bridge in the United States, Contoocook Village hosts a variety of eclectic shops and services.
The area offers a variety of activities year-round.  Swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking, are popular reasons to visit and live in and around Hopkinton.  Next door to the state Capital, Concord, and only an hour’s drive from Boston, the White Mountains, and the New Hampshire coastline, Hopkinton is ideally situated for anyone wishing to enjoy the finer things in life.
With a commitment to caring for and about students, the Hopkinton School District serves approximately 1,000 students in three schools.  The Harold Martin School serves students in grades PK-3, and its aim is to meet the needs of the young children.  The staff takes great pride in the family atmosphere of the school and strives to strengthen the community and parent connections, which contribute to the excellent instructional program that is offered.  The Maple Street School houses students in grades 4-6, and the staff concentrates on varying teaching strategies to accommodate the learning styles of all children.  The Hopkinton Middle/High School serves students in grades 7-12.  The Middle School maintains a separate identity by organizing instruction for the 7th and 8th graders in teaching teams.  The High School offers a predominantly college-preparatory curriculum in which 80%-85% of graduates continue their education beyond high school.
With the support of the School Board and the community, the District is dedicated to working to bring the highest quality educational program to the children of Hopkinton.  Parents, teachers, and community members are actively involved in the District through the PTA.  The PTA’s mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, assist parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children, and encourage parent and public involvement in the schools. The School Board is seeking a strong Superintendent who will continue the wonderful programs that exist in the District, as well as guide the community in preparing students for the future.  The District will offer a salary competitive with the other top districts in New Hampshire.  Interviews will begin in January with an announcement planned for March, 2021.
