DESCRIPTION: To relieve the principal of such impediments as preventing him/her from fulfilling his/her chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school. 


  • License/Certification: 

Required – Professional Educator License with Principal or General Administrative endorsement in the State of Illinois 

  • Education: 

Required – Master’s Degree 

Preferred – Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership 

  • Experience: 

Required – Candidate must be bilingual with fluency in both Spanish and English. Proven record of educational leadership, including a strong background in curriculum, assessment, and staff development. Experience in improving the literacy skills of students. Experience in supporting the supervision of the instructional program of the school. Experience working with a diverse population of students. Illinois Qualified Teacher Evaluator. Five (5) years of successful elementary teaching or related experience. 

Preferred – Five-plus (5+) years of successful teaching or related experience in a public school district setting. Illinois Qualified Teacher Evaluator. Preferred – Three (3) years of successful school administrative experience. Experience working with a diverse population of students, families, and staff. Experience in effectively leading student academic growth of all students. 


  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. 
  2. Leads PBIS Tier I and Tier II. 
  3. Supports the school’s RTI initiatives. 
  4. Supports the school’s Dual Language program. 
  5. Serves as one of the instructional leaders of the school regarding curriculum, instruction, community and parental relations, and staff supervision. 6. Effectively evaluates staff performance which includes providing staff with accurate feedback following the District teacher evaluation plan and the administrative procedures and practices. 
  6. Serves as principal when the principal is absent. 
  7. Supervises the preparation of student/teacher schedules. 
  8. Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. 
  9. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance clerk for referral to appropriate agencies. 11. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary. 
  10. Serves with a parent, faculty, and student groups, as requested, in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
  11. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.
  12. Attends and participates in administrative team meetings and other meetings as directed.
  13. Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the school principal or Superintendent.


Planning and Preparation – Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources. Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students learning. 

Classroom Environment – Creates an environment of respect and rapport, establishes a culture for learning, manages classroom procedures, manages students’ behavior, and has the ability to organize physical space. 

Instruction – Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. 

Professional Responsibility – Reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism. 

Technical: Competent in digital environments including but not limited to; Google Apps for Education, databases, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, district email system, the distr attendance system, etc. 

Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses, and community. Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Comprehensive strategic thinking and rapid problem-solving skills to effectively handle crises that arise. Ability to cope with deadline pressures. Creative problem solver. Ability to facilitate meetings efficiently. Empathetic, humanistic, and open-minded. Strong sense of teamwork. Strategic thinker. Must be able to make difficult decisions that impact the organization in a positive sense. Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist, i.e., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Exempt full-time position. Monday – Friday. Ten and one-half month year (200 days). 

SALARY RANGE: Based on experience and education.
