The Jefferson County School District Board of Directors is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as superintendent.  The successful candidate must have a proven record of successful school district leadership, possess strong budget and management skills, be an exceptional communicator and demonstrate a high level of integrity. 

 

The Jefferson County School District serves 2,852 students in five elementary (three K-5; two K-8), one middle (6-8), one high school (9-12) and one career and technical school.  The district employs a staff of 350 and has a total budget of $51.5 million (general fund $40.9 million).  The district is among the most culturally diverse in Oregon, serving a student body that includes 32% Native American, 28% Hispanic, 38% Anglo and 2% other. The district provides excellent academic and student support programs to all its students as well as special education services; alternative education; technology education; and a variety of co-curricular activities.

       

Madras and Jefferson County (population 19,900) are located in the heart of beautiful Central Oregon.  Madras is 15 miles south of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, 30 miles north of Redmond and 45 miles north of Bend (population 77,000).  Portland, Oregon’s largest city, is a pleasant two-and-a-half hour drive through some of the most beautiful country in the nation.  Jefferson County is rich in Native American, Hispanic and Western American culture.  The Jefferson County School District covers 1500 square miles and serves the communities of Madras, Metolius, Warm Springs and the surrounding area. Jefferson County and the Central Oregon high desert, nearby lakes and rivers and the rugged Cascade Mountains offer more exciting outdoor opportunities than anywhere else in Oregon.

 

The Board will offer a competitive compensation package to the successful candidate.  The successful candidate must hold or qualify for an Oregon superintendent’s license.
