Assistant Senior Division Director for Western Division, National Education Nonprofit; AVID
Director of Western Division for National Education Nonprofit
Assistant Senior Division Director for the Western Division for a national nonprofit
AVID is on a mission to combat inequitable educational practices and ensure that all students have limitless opportunities. Over 6,500 schools nationwide have invited us to work with them because of our proven effectiveness in transforming schools and ensuring that students are college and career ready. We currently benefit more than 2 million students nationwide.
What we believe:
All students, regardless of their life’s circumstance, have limitless opportunities open to them. They are entitled to dream big and pursue their dreams with gusto. Teachers are superheroes, and we can give them even more superpowers. Learning is a complex human endeavor. Teachers are also learners, and even the best educators can continually hone their craft. How we teach is as important as what we teach. The three Rs are: relationships, rigor, and relevance. Educators must insist on rigor for all students, remove barriers and transform systems, and believe in students so that they can believe in themselves. When schools do that well, students thrive. Most of all, we believe that public education is our best hope for ending intergenerational poverty.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate is a successful, innovative, and passionate leader who is up to the task of overseeing the day-to-day work of the staff—who engage and support district and school leaders as they implement AVID—across 13 Western states and British Columbia. We are looking for an educational leader who is equally at home developing and executing strategic initiatives, analyzing data, sharing educational trends, engaging stakeholders, navigating different organizations, creating buy-in, and showing how AVID integrates with district initiatives. We seek a strong advocate for public education—a leader who can coach, drive, inspire, and hold others accountable.
What you will do:
You will lead and develop a high-octane team of state directors, program managers, coordinators, and administrative assistants. You will oversee the day-to-day work of the team, which will include: developing and executing strategic initiatives, forging partnerships, deploying program managers to strengthen AVID implementation, deepening AVID’s work, engaging key stakeholders and diverse audiences (district leaders, funders, legislators, etc.), planning large trainings, networking, collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders across the organization, and developing staff.
What you will enjoy:
AVID is a game changer. Our staff is drawn to AVID because of our mission and our scale. You will enjoy impacting hundreds of districts, 1,500 schools, and tens of thousands of educators in the Western Division. Where else can you have that kind of impact? Schools tell us that they rely on us because our professional learning is in a league of its own, that we rekindle the spark in teachers, and that our model is effective. The work is hard, but the impact is profound. You will work with smart, determined, and diverse people, who share your passion for closing the opportunity, expectation, and achievement gaps. You will get to work from the comfort of home, while being a major contributor to a fast-growing and thriving national education nonprofit.
